When it comes to eating disorder recovery, the question becomes how free do you want to be? How free do you want to be from Ed’s control of your life? Do you want to be a little recovered, or do you want to be fully recovered?
In early recovery, I’ll admit that I thought I might be fine if I could just recover from those parts of Ed that I hated and hold onto the parts that I liked. But what I discovered is that Ed is a package deal. Holding onto any part of Ed kept me stuck in mediocre versions of recovery, that kept me out of life.
Are you holding onto a little piece of Ed that you’re afraid you can’t live without?
Don’t settle for lingering food fears, for not trusting your body, for any eating disorder behavior at all, no matter how small you think it might be. Because it is possible to get rid of all of Ed!
Don’t settle for mediocre.
