The DBT-PE Protocol for PTSD: Addressing Barriers to Treatment and Finding Recovery (1.5 CE credits)

Part three of this webinar series will review the DBT-PE protocol of providing DBT skills along with in vivo and imaginal exposures to process trauma. Special attention will be given to addressing treatment interference issues, including emotional dsyregulation and intolerance. Common reasons for dropout will be explored. Further, this workshop will discuss potential anxiety experienced by the therapist as well as possible interfering behaviors. This unique webinar will combine clinical and research perspectives with a recovered patient’s experience. Attendees are encouraged to participate and bring examples from their own practice to discuss.
Learning Objectives:
At the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Describe barriers to treatment, including therapists’ interfering behaviors, with the DBT-PE protocol.
- Recognize and address common reasons for dropout from the DBT-PE protocol.
- Explain research supporting the DBT-PE protocol’s effectiveness in treating multi-diagnostic, high-risk patients.
